Here is a sketchnote I made based on Rick Swette’s blog on insights for designs:
The key takeaways after reading Rick Swette’s blog post on insights for designs, is that ‘Don’t strand in one aspect’. For instance, the purpose of doing research is to bring our acknowledgement in front, not to find the hard data. What I learned from Rick, is that in many circumstances we have already knew the answers, and research is what we use to ‘prove’ our guesses, therefore we shouldn’t suffer from finding the accurate data in the research phase. Furthermore, research is not to find answers but questions. Questions usually lead to great solutions, but not the results. Therefore, I think insights are more about to discover questions throughout any stage of the design process.
Besides research, we shouldn’t strand in ideas and the quantity of the work. Sometimes If an idea is great, work on it and don’t waste your time to think more ideas. Furthermore, the amount of work will affect the insights. The more work you do, the messier you can get, so use your insight to pick the one that is the best for the current stage and work on it only, don’t strand in them!
